The port of Ancona is connected by ferry to several countries in the Adriatic Basin. The list includes Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Albania and Montenegro, and the port sees an annual throughput of over one million passengers.
The port’s facilities include a café and a convenience market as well as restroom facilities. Parking facilities exist for both short-term and long-term stays. Specially designated parking spaces accommodate disabled drivers.
The port is located inside the city of Ancona itself, with the city being well-connected to the rest of the country. The passenger terminal is equipped to accommodate those with disabilities, as are most of the ferries. Port Ancona Information: Ferry Services - Ancona, Marche, Italy
Four primary companies operate service to and from the port of Ancona: Superfast Ferries, Anek Lines, Minoan Lines and SNAV. Ferries cross to the ports in Croatia and Greece, with services to Igoumenitsa, Patras and Split (also known as Spalata). Crossings to Igoumenitsa take 15 hours, and a stop at this port is usually included on longer routes to Patras (21 hours).
Crossings to ports in Croatia formerly included a stop at Zadar, though this service is not currently included on the relevant ferry companies’ itineraries. Services to Split take 4 hours, 30 minutes, and are only offered during the summer months. For up-to-date information on crossings to Croatia, travellers can consult company timetables.
The ferries are equipped to accommodate disabled passengers, with most ships having modified cabins, escalators and lifts, and adapted toilets. Passengers are encouraged to contact their specific ferry operator for information on particular routes and ferries.
