Ancona is a small hub, and most of the city can be explored on foot. Even so, taxis are always available to take passengers to local destinations.

Car Hire and Road Travel
Ancona is easily reached from both northern and southern regions of Italy. The A14 and the A1 motorways link Ancona to greater Europe via Milan and Bologna. The S.S.76 heads to Rome, and the S.S.16 is handy for exploring the Adriatic Region. To approach the port by car, follow the main Ancona roadways and take either the exit marked 'Ancona Centro' or the exit marked 'Conero Beach'.

Trains and Rail Travel
The train station is situated about 0.5 km / 1 mile from the port. From the port to the rail station takes about 5 minutes by car. The Italian State Railways, or Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), operates primarily on two regional lines. The trans-Italy Ancona-Rome line links some of the larger cities in Central Italy, while the Milan-Bari line connects the coastal resorts.
Car Parking
Parking at the port is located in front of the Maritime Station, and is limited to check-in and embarkation procedures. Further short-term and long-term parking options can be found in private lots situated directly outside of the port.
Travel by Taxis
Taxis are always the most convenient transport option from the port of Ancona. They can be hailed outside the terminal exit. Questions concerning taxis and fares should be directed to the information desk inside the terminal.
